Adding disks to Solaris without rebooting

After adding a (presumably hot swapable) disk to a running Solaris server, to get the disk recognised by the OS, do the following:

  1. /usr/sbin/drvconfig - builds the /devices tree

  2. /usr/sbin/devlinks - creates the links between /dev and /devices

  3. /usr/sbin/disks - creates the dsk and rdsk entries in /dev (use /usr/sbin/tapes for tape devices)

  4. /usr/ucb/ucblinks - creates the SunOS 4.x to 5.x compatability linksSunOS 4.x to 5.x compatability links
